For as long as he can remember, the art of making music has been an apparent passion for Murfreesboro, TN native Zilla Da Felon. From banging on the lunchroom table at school and rapping to the beat to battling cats across town to setting his region ablaze with independent albums and mixtapes, music has been the breath of life for this shining talent.
Ten years on the scene, Zilla made a phenomenal regional splash with his 1999 debut album Living Life Scanless. After rocking the foundation of the local independent music scene, Zilla signed with Nashville-based Felonious Records and kept his name ringing in the streets with a slew of mixtapes spreading through the southeast.
His most recent feat is a feature on Big Boom’s lead single “Blame It On My Swagg” featuring label mates Thorobread from the Felonious Records compilation Business Nothing Personal. Scheduled to be released in the Spring, the compilation introduces some of the most talented artists in the city of Cashville.
“I ain’t trying to be the next Jay-Z or Lil Wayne. I’m just trying to be me and walk the path that they paved,” says Zilla. “I’m trying to make history and let everybody understand life from my angle. I got more to offer than other artists because it’s not about the money with me. I love music and the creativity.”
